Monarch Computers - ridiculuous shipping practices?

Perhaps this should go in B&M...but I'm really more bewildered than anything else.

My online buying experience is pretty extensive with companies like NewEgg, Buy.com, ZZF, XPCGear, Amazon, etc.... .whatever.

I decided to buy a 6800GS AGP from Monarch the beginning of last week.......as they had the card for $12 (mind you - only $12) less than Newegg.

Little did I realize that it has taken them a few days to "process" (translate: think) about providing the card, a few days to "prepare" (translate: look around for a box) and now, a week later, they *still* haven't shipped the item.

I just can't comprehend why it would take so long. Is this just a "Mom-n-Pop" operation with just a few employees trying to compete with the big boys? Are they more of an OEM builder than a parts supplier?

This is my first experience with Monarch - so I do not wish to be rash and judge their competency on my experience only - but I was pointed to another thread here at AT (can't find it right now) about a number of people with bad experiences with Monarch, so I'm thinking this is not an isolated event.

Again, not so much as a complaint as trying to understand why their shipping process seems to take an inordinate amount of time.........

Anyone shed some light? I must say, at this point it is doubtful I'll purchase from Monarch again.......

I had the same experience with my 7800GT recently. Two of my inquiries about shipping went unanswered. The only reason I would want to buy from them again is because they have pretty good prices.

I don't understand why companies take so long to ship. At my last job as a sys admin at a publishing company, we had on average 250-500 orders per day (from the web site, I don't know how many were placed over the phone) and 7 warehouse workers and at 4:30PM every day all orders placed by 4pm were going on the FedEx truck.

Took them 13 business days to send out a stick of memory that was in stock.

I've been happy with them in the past, but that was ridiculous. I will look elsewhere from now on.

I'm usually willing to pay a few extra dollars to go with Newegg. I just wish they still shipped FedEx Super Saver :(

Yeah I mean I remember it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a really bad business practice. Especially when you can pay any guy off the street minimum wage to put some things in a box and put a pre-printed label on it.

just out of curiousity, what was the expected arrival time based your shipping method?

Did they say up front it would be shipped out in 1-2 days?

If they did, then you have a legitimate rant...

some places (like axshop.com) have insanely low prices ($4.00 LED flashlights, $3.00 for a 2 pack of nano screen covers, $4.00 for a retrable IPOD charger, $3.00 for a nano skin - these prices are shipped BTW), but it took 3 weeks for me to receive them...based on those prices, I didn't mind the wait...

Yeah, I placed an order on the 9th and they don't even have an order status for it yet. Pisses me off, because I was hoping to build the system on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Guess I'll cancel and order with Newegg.

I had a similar deal with them but I think it only took one week rather than two.

Yup. It was listed as "In Stock - Usually ships in 1-2 days." On top of the 13 business days it actually took them to send out the item, it was shipped on a Friday via FedEx 2 day air, and I got it the following Tuesday. Basically almost 3 weeks to get it.

Well, I ordered very early on the 7th - and it said 1-2 day processing. I even ordered 3-Day Fedex/UPS (whichever it was)...thinking, as with NewEgg, that that actually meant I'd have the order within about 4 days, 5 tops. Was I ever wrong......... :(

As of today (Monday) it is still being "processed" by the warehouse.....

I'm sorry, but I'm in agreement with supafly and apinomus - I will be looking elsewhere from now on........
