A few minutes before I posted this, I saved a quote system in my profile. And when I added HL2, all the popup said was that the components would not ship until Dec 6th to coincide with the official start of the promotion. It didn't say anything about requiring a 3500+ or above.

They must've just changed the conditions.

weird.. i just visited with monarch also... all they told me was that they would allow me to purchase mb and cpu and get the farcry disk and send a coupon for halflife (to be downloaded)...still a pretty good deal

i talked to them about 2 hrs ago

after looking at the site you also get counterstrike (download) and one further note...the half life is the bronze edition... (how does the bronze edition differ from any other edition, its obious that there must be 2 other editions that are superior to it)

with silver and gold editions you get a bunch of valve crap like hats and t shirts......"Bronze" just includes the game itself.

I see they have the original page all Socket 754 combos. Anyone know how to change that to socket 939 combinations?

THAT PISSES ME OFF

Before it was a 3500+ or Athlon 64 FX to get those games, which I purchased a couple weeks ago for my father for xmas. Now it comes with it free no matter what the setup.

So? Deals change all the time. You can buy something and a month later it will be on sale. Are you going to get upset about it? If stuff like this will make you mad, then be prepared to be a grumpy man for your entire life.

The only good mobo in the list is the DFI lanparty board, but it's about $30 more expensive than elsewhere. The deal is warm. You will get a good value by getting two free games (or selling them). I also wish they didn't require you to get a fan with a non retail setup, but I guess since they will be pre-setting this up for you, I shouldn't complain. Still, that's $30 + $8 for the HSF...the free games barely make this deficit up. I guess you could count napster, for those of you that value music downloads.

you need to go back to the website and reconfigure with a 939 board... there are various choices to make in mb + cpu combination

good luck

I purchased an AMD 64 combo (i.e., 3500+ and NEO 2 platinum) from Monarch. It came preinstalled. Do you know whether they would put artic silver or anything even though you didn't specify a thermal grease in the shopping cart?
Thanks.

There is an option for thermal grease. It isn't AC though. :/

Yes. it is.
I didn't put the thermal grease in the cart because I have AS5. I didn't know they assemble before shipping though. I'm wondering whether they would put any thermal grease possibly contained in the retail package when they installed heatsink on mobo.

Shin Etsu is very good thermal grease. I don't know about the GS675, but I know there's been a lot of tests done with some numbers of Shin Etsu that are on par if not better than AS5.

Isn't this deal months old...? I remember seeing it when I was shopping for my motherboard and CPU.
