Momentus Compatability

My roommates HDD in his Dell XPS M1330 laptop failed, and instead of him getting screwed to have it replaced I'm just gonna replace it for him, but I want to make sure the hard drive is compatible. I found a Seagate Momentus Hybrid (http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Moment...e+momentus+320) for a pretty good deal I think. I'm pretty sure it will be fine with his laptop but I just want to make sure. Thanks!

Download the service manual or maintenance manual of that specific laptop, and find from it the steps required to replace a harddrive, and the required specifications.

Make sure if it needs a HD of thickness 7 or 9 mm.

I replaced a WD Scorpio Black with a 320 Momentus XT almost two years ago, and have never looked back. It worked perfectly being cloned from the WD, and cut the boot time about in half. It gets faster as it is used - lt "learns." It is a standard size 2.5-in, and no special considerations or treatments are needed.

Here's how I cloned it. I cloned the WD Scorpio 320 from laptop to an external eSATA drive using Acronis TI 2011. Then I replaced the WD with the Momentus and cloned back from the external to the Seagate. It booted right up and never looked back.

According to [thread=2262634]the Hot Deals thread[/thread], it's a warm deal on the older revision.

This is the relevant Dell service manual page. I didn't see the height/thickness listed. The Momentus XT is 9.5mm thick.
