Mom: Missing Girl Sending Text Messages

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Since her 13-year-old daughter vanished Monday, Stella Browne says she has been getting text messages from the girl saying that someone followed her and that she woke up in a dark basement.

"Help. I'm scared. I don't know where I am," one of the text messages that Natasha Browne sent her mother said, Stella Browne told The Jersey Journal of Jersey City for Wednesday's newspapers.

The message went on to say: "Someone was following me and I just don't remember what happened. I just woke up in a basement. I'm scared."

Jersey City police have classified Browne's disappearance as suspicious. They planned to hold a 3 p.m. news conference to discuss their investigation.

Browne went missing Monday morning after leaving home for school. Her mother said she's only received text messages from her daughter, and that she has not called nor is she answering her cell phone.

"At this point, because of the circumstances surrounding this case, we are strongly and actively pursuing all means to find this young lady," said police Lt. Joseph Connors.

I hate sex traffiers.

These people should all have their head cut off because they are basically making women and young girls sex slaves.

Most new phones have GPS I think, but it has to be enabled on some phones....

This sounds suspicious. $10 says the Mom is involved.

Edit-Guess not. I'm glad she was found but it sucks that she was raped. Death to the scum who did that to her. :|

I don't know of anyone that this has happened to it cannot be as rampant as you are making it seem.

Yes. The thing I don't understand is that this girl had the time to type out her text messages with 0s in place of Os. I was thinking wtf? If I was kidnapped, that's the last thing on my mind is changing the way my text is to be c00z.

Assuming it's in a fairly populated area, triangulating the location is well within the means of the cell company. If she's using a somewhat recent cell it has GPS and is broadcasting it's exact location constantly. Although if this was the case it would logically seem that she should already be found.
If the government doesn't need warrants to track anyone by their cell, they should be able to find a kidnapped girl.
