Can she access them by IP?

Could be a DNS issue with her ISP.

If she can get them by IP but not by domain have her try using the DNS servers you h ave configured on your internet connection.

Well, the tech support guy went through all her DNS setup so that should be correct.

I haven't tried by IP because I didn't have the IP's last time I was there.

Doesn't matter if it is "correct," if their DNS servers don't have entries (or have incorrect entries) for the sites she's trying to visit she won't be able to get there by domain.

I'm amazed they didn't have her try to access it by IP.

I would double check the Tech's DNS work. See if she can reach them via IP address.

If you open up a command-line window and try to ping the site by domain, does it fail to resolve the domain, or does it resolve the domain but still fail to get replies from the target ip? If the former, look for DNS issues; try changing the DNS server you're using to some other DNS (for example, the ones you are using at home). If the latter, do some traceroutes to find out who's dropping the packets, as perhaps her ISP has some routing issues.

I'm guessing DNS, like everyone else.

Tracert it, maybe there's an internap node down somewhere or something. A couple of clients weren't able to access our company's internet based software for this reason. But first I would look at DNS like everyone else suggested.

Assuming that the DNS lookup is OK...

Where does a traceroute to the IP stop?

How is she connected to the ISP? Cable, DSL, Dialup?

Is there some sore of internet connection sharing going on?

I had a problem with Windows ICS that wouldn't let me visit a few websites...I think it ended up being some restriction with packet fragmentation (not sure, didn't look too closely. I just replaced windows with FreeBSD)

Maybe:
(in IE) Tools > internet options > privacy > web sites:edit>
check the managed websites to see if blocked...?

Ok, the ISP is dial-up through Softcom.net. They've been a great service. I used them for a couple of years before I got cable and they were great. Her connection is poor, usually 26k at the best because of her phone lines.

I've tried to ping via name and get no name resolution.

I tried traceroute and didn't get any resolution, but I forget where it stopped.

There is no Connection sharing and all other sites she's ever tried have worked fine. I don't know why these 2 just won't come up.

Thanks all.
