Mom, can we keep him?

I am really surprised he was able to pick up and hold a full grown squirrel like that without getting bit sooner. That was one patient squirrel. My only guess is it is because it is a Fox Squirrel. They are the tames and the only kind of squirrel that make good pets. I had a female Fox Squirrel that I raised from an abandoned infant for over 3 years. She was the best pet I have ever had. Sweet and playful and very smart. Sharpest teeth I have ever seen on an animal. She used to hang from my finger by her teeth when we were playing yet she never ever once broke the skin.

By the way, it has never been known squirrels to cause rabies in humans in the US. The boy does not have anything to worry about other that being too stupid not to pick up a wild animal.

LOL! I've played with a squirrel. Their claws are needle sharp. They leave scratches even if they don't intend to. Not something I'd want as a pet.

I had to keep old sweat shirts around the house to wear when mine was out of her cage. She loved me so much that she was constantly climbing me because she wanted to be on my shoulder so she could nuzzle my neck. She was very sweet but whenever I didn't have a sweat shirt on she would unintentionally leave scratch marks all over my upper body.

Interesting that the squirrel didn't look like he was trying all that hard to get away. Picking up a squirrel isn't a good idea.

Not it isn't because usually they bite out of instinct at that point. I am really surprised that squirrel held back that long.

Squirrels are curious animals and if you feed them enough and they get used to you they will climb right up in your lap to get food. They will sit there and eat it and beg for more. I still would not try to pet of pick one up though. If raised from a baby by humans they are one of the friendliest animals I have ever seen.

lol... "i don't want to die!" lol
i've never seen a squirrel that will let you get within 50 yards of it, let alone pick it up.
i hope they took the kid to the doctor.
