Molex tools from SVC suck

Didn't think that this deserved a new thread, but I found the coolest tool. It's $3, and works wonderfully for female molex connector pins. I used two tools for doing both of my PSUs last night, and it was awesome...

Granted, yes, I fell victim to buying something cheaper than what I probably should have, but I did my research, and didn't think that the quality would be that much different, consider I was getting the tools for like $2 cheaper. I finally got the tools in today, and I was pulling out some of the Molex pins on a test PSU I have. First it wouldn't get one of the pins out, and then the damn thing breaks! The cylinder that fits of the female pin tore! And now the damn thing is useless. I can't believe this... So now I'm going to have to wait two weeks to get better tools... Ugh, this blows. Guess I'll have to go back to sleeving every other cable in my case. Mwa ha ha.

jab-tech.com has some nice molex tools and generally for less than svc. I just jot the M/F power molex and the two headed ATX/P4 tool and they look pretty spiffy.
. And speaking of tools, I just got this wire cutter/stripper and it is super slick too!! 😀

That is the sad part. They weren't plastic. They are metal. And pretty hefty too. But the damn ends are aluminum, and it ripped. I'll be taking pics tomorrow...

I used the cheap-o plastic tool that comes with the LOGISYS MOLEX SLEEVING KIT . Works perfectly.
I use sharp pointed tweezer for everything else but the ATX/CPU connectors. My ATX cable was already sleeved, so no need to remove that one, and I just pushed the sleeveing over the 4-pin CPU connector.

I was looking at that too, but I wasn't sure if it was the right size. Oh well. I got me some more tools, so I should be able to post pics of my new projects sometime next week. Damn I can't wait.

I just used the two ended ATX/P4-12V tool (from jab-tech) to mod a non-standard PSU into a standard one and it worked great. The tines are made from spring steel, so one should have a hard time doing too much damage to it. Pretty soon I'll be trying out the molex power pin tool and I'll report back.
