Molex fans - not enough connections to PSU

I'm finishing up my new build. I've got 5 case fans. The exhaust fan in the back has a connection to the fan header on the mobo. The other 4 case fans all have molex connectors. My PSU came with one cable that has 3 molex power connectors.
So I'm trying to figure out how to connect the 4th case fan.
I found an old cable that looks like I could use it to convert one of the case fans power connection from molex to the type that attaches to a mobo fan header. Would this work to connect one of those fans to the mobo instead of the PSU?

Actually, it looks like that cable isn't the right kind of connection to attach to the fan header on the motherboard, so maybe I need to get a splitter to add another molex connection?

It looks like a molex to dual 4-pin, with a cable left off of one of the 4-pins (most likely the PWM function) since the MOLEX will have it run at full speed, but allow your BIOS to see it.

Since you already have the cable, why not just try it out?

Unless I'm doing it wrong, it doesn't seem to fit correctly.

But I just realized the cables coming off my fans have both male and female molex, like this one:

So I'm thinking I can just attach two of them together?

That 3-pin connector should fit into the adapter 4-pin (into the missing one cable from what I can see in the pictures). It should also fit on the one with 4 cables, but you will have to plug it in matching the same cables. If it doesn't for whatever reason, you'll just have to order an adapter like I linked to earlier.

You can chain them together like this:

Just dont connect any drives to the end of that mess. You dont want your drives going thru all those connectors. Just fans.
