Quick question. I don't have tiles on the wall in my bathroom - it's a typical white wall (painted). The part of the wall where it meets my (standing) shower door at the base seems to be "squishy" when I push on it. It doesn't seem wet when I touch it, but I can definitely push it in and out at least a few centimeters. Does that means behind that part of the wall is a wet, moldy mess? Or can it potentially just be water damage without the mold?

may/may not be moldy. I would get all the soft parts out and let it dry, spray with bleach. Figure out why it got wet and repair to solve the issue.

not necessarily moldy. you have drywall around your tub instead of tile? was it a tub converted into a shower at one point?
