Hi
I have owned this computre that i built myself for about a year now, but when I came home today I found it would not boot. Whenever the power switchon the PSU is on I can see the green standby light solid, but after a minute it begins to flash. The lights on the thing for my wireless keyboard also flash as well. When the flashin begins i can hear a continous clicking noise coming from the psu also. When I try the case's powerbutton no fans or cd drives will start up also. I have already tried shorting out the pins on the mobo power plug and everything connected to the psu began to function, so im pretty sure its no that.

If anyone could provide a little help i would be grateful
Thanks

Just to see if it's the same problem as mine, try removing your graphics card and starting it up. Do the fans/drives get going w/o the graphics card? What are your syspecs?

It sounds like a short circuit. Take the motherboard out of the case and lay it on cardboard. Connect only the completely-essential stuff: video card, one memory module in slot DIMM_B1, CPU, heatsink & fan. No drives, no other cards, no mouse, no keyboard, no case wiring.

Test it like that, and if it keeps doing it, get a new high-quality power supply and try again.

if it works fine under mechBgon's scenario, you might have to find some way of preventing the mobo from touching whatever part of the case that it might be touching. ASUS told me to make washers out of electrical tape and use it to keep the mobo from touching the case/case tray.
