The FBI is not really trolling. They received a credible tip... should they just ignore it? Likely they used resources in this case because they believed it would lead to being able to arrest a larger number of people. Turns out in this case it was just one extremist whacko.

The FBI ignored some credible tips from a flight school who alerted them to some middle eastern men wanting to take flying lessons... not caring to learn how to land. The FBI sort of followed up... but the case fell by the wayside. So they do have to follow up on tips. They do get quite a few... so this one probably had some serious red flags.

This is at least the third case of this happening in the past year or so. They just gave the guy from Dallas 20+ years in prison for planting the fake bomb that the FBI gave him.

Living in Dallas, I remember being shocked that there was a terrorist plot in downtown where I often am just blocks from where it happened....


Then come to find out, there wasn't any threat at all. It was a government scheme.

Well perhaps you don't love freedom quite as much as you think you do. I have no sympathy for this idiot in particular either. My only concern stems from observing the trends in governance that this capture are symptomatic of. If Mohamed Osman Mohamud dies in prison I won't shed a tear for him personally. However if the trend of saving the country from non-threats as a ploy to legitimize the further militarization of domestic policing in the US continues, I will express disgust as a matter of principle.
