Mogwai

OK, I've decided to educate ATOT on fine music. I have recently fell in love with this little band called Mogwai, and if you like good music I'm sure you will to . If you have never heard of them I definitely recommend checking them out. Dload 2 rights make 1 wrong or something and kick back and relax. Does anyone here listen to them? If you need comparisons they sound a little like Sigur Ros (also an excellent band).

I don't know what you know. It is rock, but it is nothing heavy. It is very relaxing music, but very artistic as well. It reminds me of radiohead, but not as techno. I can't really explain it. It is just one of those things you have to hear.

wow... that's weird I was listening to some Mogwai MP3's and searching kazaa for similar stuff when I stumbled upon this thread. Mogwai is good. Also check out

Yeah, I started the Godspeed thread a day or two ago. I have been listening to all of this kind of music lately. I am really into bands like Mogwai, GSYBE!, Sigur Ros, Mercury Rev and such. If you know of any others that are similar please tell me! Somebody asked me today what genre it would be. I guess it is called Space Rock isn't it? I will just put it under good music.

Yo La is more techno... well not really techno techno but like low fi techno. They're good but more drum machine based.

I used to love bands like this and still do but i've been getting into the singer/songwriter groove recently (probably the guitar lessons i started taking) i've been listening to cat power and songs: ohia almost exclusively for the past 3 weeks.... Starting to check out the whole Secretly canadian stable....

I'll check them out. My USB Zip drive is not working right so I can't transfer mp3's to my comp with the internet to my one with the burner. Oh, well. I'll just have to order me a portable HD. I musn't be denied my music.

If you say you need more vocals some good bands worth checking out imo are Modest Mouse and Built to Spill. Different genre but still very good. I was hooked on them before I started my whole Godspeed - Sigur Ros - Mogwai obsession.

i don't think ylt sounds much like mogwai but i guess the two are sort of related through the longwinded guitar experimenting/noodling....other than that they have 2 very distinct sounds

as for mogwai, they are ok...i really liked young team, especially the last track 'mogwai fear satan', but the albums after that was just ok...rock action really sucked

Mogwai's pretty good, I heard them for the first time a few years ago, and then they actually played live at a festival I went to. Good stuff.
