Mogwai fans rejoice, the new albulm is quite possible the best since Young Team. If you've never heard of Mogwai, fire up your favorite p2p now. I've listened to it a few times so far and it keeps getting better. HSFHP seems much more cohesive and fleshed out than Rock Action, although it seems to take its sound from Rock Action more than anything. To me it seems they have seemed to developed a rich British sound if there is such a thing, and at times sound like Sigur Ros (Boring Machines Disturbs Sleep), albeit much darker.

Try it out of course. I'm going to buy it as soon as possible, but I'm stuck here in the boondocks with nothing but a Walmart and a crappy music store in the mall.

Ok, it is basically instrumental. I can't really explain it, I've seen it classified as Post Rock.

The tracks:

1. Hunted by a Freak - nice beginning, not much to say. Doesn't sound like a Mogwai song, but still good.

2. Moses? I Amn't - Very dark, with organs. Begins to sound like Clint Mansell if you are familiar with the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack

3. Kids Will be Skeletons - Beautiful little tune, and the quiet/loud structure is the traditional Mogwai coming out.

4. Killing All The Flies - First instance of vocals (although they are unrecognizable), not my favorite track but not bad either. Again the quiet/loud structure comes out.

5. Boring Machines Disturbs Sleep - First part reminds of Sigur Ros with the bow on the guitar. Me likes.

6. Ratts of the Capital - Couldn't find it so I can't comment. If someone out there stumbles upon it...

7. Golden Porshe - Very short (2:48) but one of my favorites. Mellow with a nice piano.

8. I Know You Are but What am I? - Again, sounds like Clint Mansell (to me at least) and includes a drum machine like Superheroes of BMX. This is my favorite track off of the albulm.

9. Stop Coming to My House - Old School Mogwai. Very strong soft/loud structure, with a cute little ending.

The "Mogwai" was the term for the species/thing that was Gizmo, the cute, furry thing...those Furby things? Those are really "Gizmos."
