Modular - powersupply-case-motherboard

so recently built new system. Power supply was a modular..in that you can remove the power cables you are not using to save having to hide the extras...got me to wondering....

is there a totally modular design? .... to try to explain....

the above items in the title are totally modular....
the case has connectors built in that the motherboard snaps into
the power supply has no cables and plugs directly into the case.
same for all drives and connections. so zero wiring ..all modular.

shouldnt be that hard to do. the ps is already there. just need a case and motherboard
designed that way. should be a market for this as many are into modding/water cooling etc

You want PSU manufacturers, case manufacturers, MB manufacturers and cooling manufacturers and, drive manufacturers all to agree to the same standard? You would also eliminate any modding by doing this. You haven't thought this out.

so there is no agreed standardization now?
what about ATX? PCIexpress?
you can buy an LGA1156 Intel chip and put in in any LGA1156 motherboard.
any SATA drive works with any SATA mb and case.
I dont have to buy an Intel mb. Intel case. Intel hard drive.
all the electric connections are standardized. 24pin. 8pin. 6pin PCIe

a powersupply is already modular. would not take much more to go a bit further and go all modular.

Many OEM systems are like this. Data and power cabling are pre-run to the various points. It enables them to save time on the assembly line and such. HOWEVER, big OEMs know exactly which parts are going to go into each model, and the cases are engineered accordingly. Magnus is right on the money with this one. It would be nice, but it is not feasible.

Getting the case manufactures to install a power bar that routs power to the common areas where a standard molex, SATA, 24 pin main, and 4 or 8 pin CPU connector can be plugged in at, isn't too hard but you still have visible cables. You want to have the motherboard makes add a new kind of connector to the back side of the board and the PSU makes to add a new connector to there units so they all plug directly into the case so there are no visible cables. Deciding on the connector standard for these will be impossible. PSU manufactures can't even use a universal modular cable system. Never mind trying to convince manufactures to reinvent things and have to make 2 variations of the same basic product. You remember how well BTX went.
