Modular HD shelves

Hey guys, I accidentally posted this in OT. My company's having some issues storing large quantities of hard drives (internal and external). I was wondering if anyone could suggest a modular HD shelf system if any exists. It needs to be able to hold both internal and external HD's (maybe removable shelves?). We need to store along the lines of several hundreds of HD's with expansion room for later. And if this shelving system could fit in a small space that would be pretty convenient.

I"ve never seen one spcifically for hard drives. When I worked in a computer warehouse as a tech for a spell, I stole a Tape storage rack for DLT cartridges and used it to file hard drives on. Not built for it but it worked fairly well. Only problem is that they are only about 4-5 inches deep, so the HDDs stick out a bit and if its in a walking path it could be bumped spilling your HDDS on the ground. HDD's with hotswap cages would stick out even further, making the risk even greater, but as long as its somewhere people don't walk its all good.

For your purposes I would honestly suggest using some budget $$ for some plywood and 1x2's, & 2x4's and build your own custom rack with slots for all the sizes of hdds you need to store. (Make it STRONG! HDD's are not light in quantities as i'm sure you know.) It's good to be manly and break out the power tools every once in a while 😉
