im not trying to rat that person out. but im just wondering if its ok to do this. the price is below $70.00 but i believe the original price was higher then $70.00 hence hardtech offering to take it for $70.00.

would that be considered low balling or is this ok? like if i see a certain price that i see, but i would like to see it go below that, can i ask in the thread or would i need to do it in pm's. was hardtech ok to do this, or did he just low ball?

again, im not trying to "rat" him out. im just asking if this is ok or not. thanks.

<< but i believe the original price was higher then $70.00 >>

How much higher? $75? $80?

If you knew it was originally offered at $100, $110, or higher, then yeah, I'd call $70 a low ball offer. At the time that Hardtech made his offer, Apura didn't have his PM's on.

I could be wrong, but I'm of the mind that you zap the fellow a PM and/or email with your offer and keep it out of the thread. As you can see, making an offer that at first may be rejected and then see the price drop below the offer... well, it's just a headache ;) In my humble opinion, if you've got interest in an item, make your offer via PM and throw a bump into the thread with "YGPM" or "You've got a PM regarding the X".

This is probably the best advice that could be given to browser's of the For Sale/Trade forum. Frankly, I think any offers should be sent via PM and not left in the thread. The other thing that really annoys me is when someone is trying to sell or buy something and a member leaves a post of the order: "I'm interested, please PM me." Would it really be so hard just to PM the seller/potential buyer and express your interest?

i never knew there was an actual rule against low balling. i just thought it was commonly understood that lowballers would get ignored or flamed. :D

Under forum courtesy, in the FS/T forum's rules thread:

<< Except as noted, thread crapping will not be tolerated. If you are not interested in buying or selling, or you have nothing positive to say, STAY OUT OF THE THREAD! If you think the asking price is too high, or you want to make a lowball offer, contact the seller via email or PM. >>

He has already. Hence this line:

<< *still has asbestos suit from his younger days >>

For those of you that don't understand this, it means he has been flamed many times before.:)
