MODS - Why the lock? [POLL] What keeps you interested in re-hashes of re-hashed reposted threads?

I don't see how it was anymore wasteful of bandwidth than "Woot! I'm rich! " posted by Russ or "{POLL} Witch of thes three sound cards sud i get { Help!!! } " by JediHacker. And along with that, much of ATOT content is talking about it self in one way or another. So why the lock?
