Is there any chance that you could add something to the Trading Guidances about keeping prices and descriptions posted even after a sale so that other sellers/traders can get an idea of the going rate? I think it would help cut down on the number of price checks posted in FS/FT and Off Topic. Thanks.

I agree with one caviat, could the guidance suggest that instead of just leaving the descriptions/post that the seller update the item as 'sold' in the description (as not to waste a potentials buyers time looking at the item)

Best,
BIll

Sounds good to me! 🙂

All personal preference but I can see value in "suggesting" this sort of behavior for the benefit of the rest of the trading community.

Been brought up before and you simply can't "make" anyone do anything in their posts. If they are posting within the guidelines then you can't force them to do this. I do agree that I like it myself and find it useful though 🙂

can we stop people from bumping their threads by saying "SOLD"? what's the point of putting their thread at the top when their stuff is all sold? All they need to do is edit their first post and title and let the thread continue its drop

The "SOLD" bump gets an

. It's purely an "awareness" thing. If people would realize that, 99 times out of 100, we don't -care- to be updated when something is sold, it wouldn't happen. Not sure on the best course of action/inaction to curb this. A friendly PM might help things out, but anything more than that will invariably cause the "defensive" reaction.

People will keep paging you if you dont let them know its sold. Especially if the price was real low.

I currently have a pending transaction, and I asked the guy to bump the thread while I wait for his money order. Im still getting pages !

One answer to this would be to update the thread title or first post with "sold" next to the item - or remove it.

What he was actually referring to (if I'm not mistaken), is someone bumping the entire thread (i.e. with a new reply) rather than just editing the original post. Particularly in threads where you're looking at a single item being sold, it's a wasted bump. It's a nitpick, no bout adout it.

Kinda strange in my opinion, but it's your call and it's not hurting me.

Yep, this is defintely helpful, especially for posts that list one or two items.
