i have a person in my history folder who's turned off their PMs. before i was aware of that, i hit "reply", wrote my message and then clicked "send". it looked like the message was sent, but nothing shows up in my history folder. so what happened - was the message sent or dropped?
 
The message, I would imagine, would have been dropped. When you hit the reply and sent it the messgae would hae gone half way and then because it would have not got to the other side it would be dropped or lost mid way.
