Tried Discovery mod and it seems to be more MP focused due to the fact that it's SP campaign is insanely difficult. I can't even beat level 1 difficulty missions without dying or using up all my nanobots/shield generators.

I've been trying to look for a mod that makes the SP campaign more fun and adds more stuff to the game, but most of what I've seen is mainly focused on MP and roleplaying. Anyone got any suggestions?

Try Crossfire.....it starts out with the regular campaign at pretty much the default difficulty so you can build your ship up before you go to the multitude of new systems that the mod includes. The mod itself does have a SP story that you stumble across that sends you to multiple systems finding black boxes and secret containers to tell the story.

Best tip I can give you if you try Crossfire is that the high shield damage guns are actually useful in this mod i.e. Advance Stunpulse, Debilitator etc. etc. The a.i. is set so that they also use nanobots and shield batteries just like you would. Makes the battles last a little longer but they are all at least win-able.

My fave is the Rebalance 3.40. It adds a buttload of cool new ships and weapons and items and also new hardpoints for some of those new items. You can now manage your power and power regen.
Getting blown away too quickly? Get yourself a super power generator and two hi-powered shields. You'll last much longer. They have mega awesome expensive ships like the Imperial Star Destroyer. Its costs a ridiculous amount of money but has assloads of hardpoints for turrets and plenty of armor. Its also bigger than most of the small space stations in the game.
