So that, if and when someone answers your question, you can "mark this message as the answer" as has happened in this thread.

1. If you read the first page of that forum alone you will see that yours is one of many resposts on the subject.
2. Click "Mark this message as the answer." in my post and you'll see what it does.

It's an option that is enable in Forum Issues so that people can easily identify the post that answered the original question.

Your thread was probably locked because there are a ton of threads on the subject already.
