Modifying HSF

My Cpu is running too hot!
I was wondering if anyone had any experince modifing a HSF so it directly contacted the Athlon Core (Slot A with Heatplate removed). I am interested in Globalwins, Alphas, or Taisol. I am currently using a Golden Orb Slot A cooler, so if anyone has any ideas with that one. I think i'm getting rid of it soon

Globalwin FOP 38 is usually the best.
The Delta fan (38cfm, 46.5db) is the best, but LOUD AS HELL.
The YS Tech is more recommended (27cfm, about 36db), not as loud but stil reasonable airflow.
Alpha and Agilent both make good coolers, not as good as the FOP38 though.

Those are all Socket A coolers, r u saying that i can modify a socket A cooler to directly mount to a Slot A CPU. If so, how should a cool my cache chips

The cache chips don't get hot, when you removed the heatplate there was lots of thermal goop between the chips and the plate. The goop when applied this thick acts as an insulator, it prevents the heat in the plate from heating up the cache chips. Your pretty much limited to SLOT A coolers unless you want to do some major mods.
