HP makes a ce505x cartridge that is designed to only fit in their P2055 printers. We have a P2035n which apparently can't use the ce505x.

Both printers use the same ce505a cartridge, but the 2035n has little plastic tabs that physically prevent you from using the 05x cartridge. Does anyone know if it's possible to modify the 2035n to take the x cartridge?

I finally did it, and thankfully it worked!

I have been waiting for the warranty to expire.

You need to cut/melt out the inside of the toner door.

You need to cut/melt off the extra 2 tabs on the 05X toner.

I switched the chip with the 05A (don't know if this is required yet)

Did you do all of that with a saw (seems unlikely), soldering iron (likely really messy), hot metal wire (too close to johnny mnemonic?) ... that's a lot of plastic in the way!

Glad to know it works, have you had to do it again to another cartridge?
