I want to get this Chip and mod it. However I've only heard from misc posts here on the forums you can do it. No where have I seen a faq explaining how it's done. Can someone please tell me how to turn this chip into a 9700? Perhaps give me a link to a faq somewhere or something.

Thanks alot. Ruckas-

Nope, I ordered it. Then I got a call 3 days later. The guy says that because my address is different from the address on the card (I was moving.) He couldn't send me the card. I told him I was having everything changed over to my new address asap. He wouldn't budge. So since then, I've been searching the net over and over for an L shaped 9500. I've been unable to find one. So I've sorta givin up. I'm going to get a 4200.

Ofcourse they sell them at NewEgg. However, they never have any in stock when I call. Plus they charge about 20 more bucks. :(

Sounds like a real gamble on getting the right PCB cards for the conversion.
But I did read this...

"
Q: How can I overclock my 9500/9700?
A: The BIOS often ships locked on OCing. In this case you need to flash it with an unlocked bios (see warp11's site). However, many confirm that the Sapphire cards come unlocked by default.
"

Can it be comfirmed HERE that the Sapphire cards ship with the unlocked BIOS?
If so, how much performance can be expected out of some plain old COOLIN' & CRANKIN'?
:D

"Coolin' & Crankin'" a.k.a. extra memory & GPU cooling and overclocking
