Modified Promise Ultra66 to RAID controller

Just wonder, can we do this on its new Ultra100 controller?
Can somebody give me the URL about how to convert Ultra66 to FastTrak66? Thanks.

I don't know if it works for the 100, but I do know that if you use the search function, you can find the URL's. i'm too lazy to do it for you, but not lazy enought to type this post 😛

rocmonster, or any overclockers using the Promise Raid IDE card, I have one question:

-Has anyone succeeded in running this card in an overclocked system, at a PCI bus other than 33 Mhz? I can't get my fasttrack66 to work if my computer FSB is not at 66/100/133. No go at 75, 83, 105, 112, 124, 140. Is there something wrong w/ my card, or is this normal?

HELP!!!

I run mine at spec (using an old BP6 with 2 celeron366's @ 550 fsb is 100mhz) so I don't have much experience with oddball pci timings. You may find your answer HERE, along with more information.

Good luck

Ultra100 is modifiable too. It requires more work, but it can be done.

Note - it can't be done on a ASUSTeK A7V motherboard, because the chip isnt same (PDC21265 vs PDC21267 if I remember correctly)...

So does anybody have info, or seen info, for the Promise ATA100 to ATA100-Raid convert process?

Thx.

Nevermind.

Been looking around.....found that Maxtor series drives are having problems with Raid configuration...heck, some Raid-1 configs are faster than when set Raid-0 on same system/drives!

I like Maxtor's current line...quiet, low-temp, fast, cheap.

IBM gxp's are better(faster), but much more expensive, and more on the noise, and temp.

Oh well....I don't need the raid now...just spending money I guess.

I made one of these things back in the day when it was just discovered. I never used the RAID...it only ha done drive on it. Recently I converted it back to an Ultra66...because of the faster bootup and the bios/driver problems in Win2k with the FT66.
