I've looked all over and cannot find a simple list of the types of RAM slots (e.g. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... shows "Memory Slots: dual channel DDR3 3200(OC)/3100(OC)/3000(OC),..". I was wondering if it was like this for every motherboard, or if there is some variation?) that tend to be on modern motherboards. Can anyone help me out?

Not sure what you are asking, but that is a normal listing for most motherboard

It will show that they are DDR3 Slots and the speeds at which they run
the (OC) speed is the overclocked speed of the memory
the speed without (OC) is the normal rated speed of the memory

**Edit** also the link does not seem to be going to a motherboard

All modern motherboards support DDR3. Some also support DDR3 with ECC. The manufacturer's site (and most e-tailers) will show you the speeds that board will accept. The manufacturer's site will also show you a list of RAM they have tested and guarantee will work with that board.

All the "slots" are the same though. On anything you can currently buy new.
