Anyone else watching this on the history channel? Gives an interesting how the oil industry got started.

interesting tidbit, they said average gasoline in the 1910's had an octane rating of only ~20.
I also didn't realize that Lead was added to the process as a catalyst to increase octane.

yea they used to do that, but apparently lead is harmful, so now it's all unleaded.

hahaah i would like to see that. instead of red lights it'll say 'turn off engine'

I think they are still using leaded gas in Trinidad & Tobago.

a lot of countries still have leaded gas, iirc
