Everyone has been warned to discuss this in PFI. You knew better, we'll see you in two weeks. Any more posts on this discussion (outside of the thread Keys started) within video will result in a month vacation from me from this point forward.

In regards to your prior vacation. Your PMs where discussed by us and we all agreed with the decision made.

Anandtech Moderator - bsobel

From the Keys discussion:

keys was selected to be a mod by AnandTech, not forum members. his position as a moderator is not in question. if he does something that breaks our moderator guidelines, let me know and i'll deal with it accordingly. up to this point I have had ZERO complaints about keys and have actually gotten great feedback about his ability from other members of this forum including apoppin who was elected to be a mod as well but resigned his post.

I'm very surprised this wasn't locked already. we have a strict policy on not calling mods out and any discussion about the appropriateness of a mod or his/her actions is to be discussed ONLY in Personal Forum Issues.

I'm not going to ban anyone here for this, but this is absolutely the LAST warning on it. Follow proper channels if you have a complaint. Let me know if there are any actual issues that come up.
Bullshit! Sorry to have to do this publicly, but I'll call them out as I see them. Using "the proper channels" gets absolutely no response whatsoever.

Email Subject: Moderater active in same thread that he is moderating

Hello,

I got banned for a week, by a moderator (keysplayr2003) who is actively
commenting in the same thread = no no.

Furthermore, I don't believe my conduct rose to the level necessitating a
ban for one week. I would have accepted a warning and probably even
rescinded my offending comments, had I been offered the opportunity. Its
not like I'm a repeat offender or new to the forums.

I would like my ban reconsidered by senior moderators for these reasons.

Respectfully,

Email Subject: Moderater active in same thread that he is moderating (second notice)

Hello,

This is my second email, nobody replied to the first one sent on Jan. 3rd.

I was banned for a week, by a moderator (keysplayr2003) who is actively
commenting/participating in the same thread. According to the new forum
guidelines instituted for moderators, this should never happen.

Furthermore, I don't believe my conduct rose to the level necessitating a
ban for one week. I would have accepted a warning and probably even
retracted my offending comments, had I been offered the opportunity. Its
not like I'm a repeat offender or new to the forums.

I would like my ban reconsidered by senior moderators for these reasons.

Come up with some brilliant excuse, like you never received my emails because forum administrators don't know how to correctly setup a spam filter. Umm, but, I didn't....uhhh...yeah right.

Proper channels will get results.

Email is the slowest and least effective way to get ahold of a mod. We will still read your email, but it may be weeks later. Only a few of our mods have access to the email account, and we get a high volume of email. It is likely that if you didn't get a response to an email that we did not get to it until after it was relevant and we agreed with the original decision.

You will get better results every time if you PM AnandTech Moderator or post in PFI. If you are just put on vacation you will still be able to send a PM. Members who were permabanned should contact moderator@anandtech.com or me and it will be dealt with as soon as we can get to it.

FWIW, this would have been allowed in PFI and it would have gotten a response.

Please know that we want to discuss any and all relevant issues, but it isn't appropriate to hash it all out in forums that are supposed to be dedicated to hardware and technology.
