Moderate Video Card for system

First of all Hello, Im new here (sorta but been reading posts for the past year).
I need a video card for my system which has decent capabilities to play new games. I dont care about high resolutions or AA/AF but just want to play them at 800x600 or 1024x768 with 60+ fps. Games like CS 1.6, Need for Speed: Underground 2, Vice City, Half-Life 2 possibily?, and you get the point.
What I already have looked into is the 9600 Pro and XT 128mb / 9800SE 128mb / TI4600 128mb / FX5700 256mb. Are these cards ok for my needs, if not please suggest some and my budget is around $100-$200 Canadian.
Merry Christmas!

If you can wait a bit until 6600GT prices stabilise, otherwise if you want a card now a used or even new 9800 Pro would rock

For your needed resolutions, I would get a Radeon 9700pro off Ebay for $100ish?? Should have no problems running any of those games.

9700 Pro, what I use, works fine in those games. I play at 1280x960 with all settings on high in NFSU2. 1024x768 in any of those games should be just fine.

I just made some changes to my system... lol
I know most of you arnt pleased with prescott but I think it was a good deal. Well I traded my Intel 2.4A, Asus P4SP-MX, pc2700 256mb for a prescott 3.0E, MSI 915P Combo-FR, and 512 pc3200 ram. All for an extra $200 Canadian. Well so now I'm considering getting a better video card aswell. I've seen good comments about the X800XL but I know its not available yet. So do you think that would be the best solution for me? How much do you think it will cost Canadian when it comes out?

Well, first of all, how much money do you have to burn?
I would be pleased with your setup, but might I suggest you upgrade to 1gig of RAM. If you plan on serious Half-life 2/Doom 3 gaming, the extra RAM won't hurt. Now as for GPUs, The X800XT, available now, is an excellent choice. The X850 should arrive soon (check ATI's website), and will probably be worth the dough, considering the performance on the X800. I'm not a fan of Nvidia, but since the 6800s are scaleable, you might consider one now, and another as a later upgrade.
I'm not sure, but the X800XL may cost roughly $550-600 US.

Good luck!🙂
