Modem Problem

Hello There!!

A guy installed XP on my PC. But next time i cudnt connect to internet. It doesnt detect my modem. I have reinstalled XP. I changed the PCI but XP detected the modem but cudnt find ne drivers.

Now how i know what is my modem . I have lost the cd of drivers. It is a motorola 56 K modem. And shud i change the PCI again and wot to do?

+ if i change the PCI of my modem that was never used b4, do i have to make some changes in BIOS? I cudnt see ne thing there and frankly i dont know much about IRQ levels and all that. ne help?

I would downlowd Aida32, it should be able to identify your modem for you, and then you can download the apropriate windows xp drivers for it. You might also be able to find out by taking out the modem and looking for a part number, and doing a google search of it.

Most modems that XP doesn't detect and install drivers for will be seen
in the device manager with an exclamation mark and they are usually
listed at "communications device" or "pci communications device".

Take the modem out of the system and look for any numbers on the
modem or the chips on the modem and go to driverguide.com and
do a search and see if you get any matches.

If you aren't techie you might have to carry the system back to the
guy who put the xp on it and let him do the labor for ya.
