Modem phone calls problem

I just picked up a modem (Mach 2 or something)...anyways, it was free at compusa. I want to use it to make calls from my PC using the creative labs EAX effects. How can I configure the modem to work with my microphone and speakers? It will dial, but won't use any of the sound from the mic and doesn't play anything back through my speakers...any ideas?
 
Is your modem a voice modem?

You'll also need speakerphone SW, and you'll need to connect an audio cable from your modem to your soundcard.

If your modem is an external model, you'll need a seriel audio driver in addition to your modem driver. This drive enables your computer to use your modem as another suond card, both should come with your modem, or should be aviable at the manufacture's site.
