Modem in W2K??

I had the same problem. Not all modems will work in Win2K. You have to make sure the one you have is Win2K compliant or buy a new one. Sucks don't it?

It recognizes the driver, it just says it needs to be turned on!
How the heck do you do that?

I assume this is an internal modem.

Go to Control Panel and click modems. Click the tab named Modems. See if your modem is listed. If so click properties. Then click diagnostics and then click query modem. If your modem is installed correctly you should get a list of commands and status of the modem. If not then there is a conflict with either a comm port or irq.
