I am patiently waiting to decide on whether to get a fractional T1 from Verio installed. While waiting though, I have to use dialup :(
Well anyways, I just bought a new modem, because my old one wasn't a PCI, so I bought an old Creative Labs Modem Blaster DI5655. I run win2k Pro, and I have the latest drivers installed. This modem is v90 so I originally thought this was the cause of my problems. Well anyways, my problem is I dial into my ISP(my work) which is theplanet.com(or otherwise known as popi.net). Well anyways I can connect perfectly, and its good for maybe like 10 secs. Then for some reason it appears that my modem starts sending data for no reason. And it doesn't stop, it just sends like mad. Thats what it starts with. Then I can't get to any webpages. Then I can't log on to AOL IM or ICQ. Finally I resort to trying to ping my webserver IP 216.234.235.94 and it times out. My original thoughts were that i should disable v90 with the INIT string -v90. I am not at home, I am at work, so I was gonna get some opionoins on things to try before I leave so I can have an arsenal of things to throw at it to try to get that p.o.s. working. Any ideas ?

Thanks.

Does your work have a particular number for the inti v.90 and the non-applicable normal 56K version of your modem? If so, try to disable V.90 and go for the x2 or whatever else it is that you'd be using. It might be the number of your dialup that is causing this mess.... try a different number, I doubt there is anything that is physically wrong with your modem or PC
