I didn't know where to put this so I decided here would be convenient. Does anyone know where I can get a modem utility program to find out what type of modem my computer has? I have this old PC and Windows isn't telling me the details of the modem and I need to install the proper drivers. Any freeware or shareware (or whatever) I can use to find out? Thanks.

get the fcc id # from the modem,(there is usually a sticker somewhere on the modem) look up the manufacture fromm the fcc website w/ the fcc id # then go to any # of sites containing drivers look for your manufacture's drivers then install them... problem solved:disgust:

Try using standard modem drivers. If that doesn't work you're gonna need to come up with numbers on the PCB or ICs

then look on the board for a chip manufacturer and try to find the driver by the chip manufacturer... as far as I know there aren't any utilities...

Here's the deal: I know the manufacturer, Ambient. They were bought by intel not long ago. Intel has drivers on their website. Win 98 is telling me that the modem is PCI. However, I don't know which drivers to download. There are several. I guess I should have been clearer in my original post.
