Modem Hardware Problem please help????

I was wondering, i have a problem with my modem where it only works with my old computer beecause when i hook it up to my new computer it seems to reset itself like not enough power was getting to it. i thought of all the configuration and hardware problems that may cause this but got nothing. so yesterday i had my new and old computer running at the same time, my old computer for the internet and my new one to play games. now i had my old comp. connected to my monitor and my new comp to my TV. After i was done surfing the net i didnt need my old computers monitor on but i was downloading something so i left the comp and internet on and just put the monitor to my new comp. Funniest thing happened the moment i turn on the monitor the modem did the reset thing, reason its funny is because the modem isn't even connected to my new comp. actually nothing from the old comp is connected to the old comp. they are not linked at all in anyway. 😕 so eventually the modem resets and begins to work again. but the moment i start using applications on my new comp. the same thing happens. go figure. but if i just leave the new comp at idel the modem is fine 😕 i was wondering if that would be a power supply issue or maybe my new computer is drawing to much power from my outlets at home. please let me know. (PS sorry for the 10 page essay)

That is pretty strange indeed. Are both computers using the same outlet? Have you tried plugging one of the computers into a different outlet to see if it still happens? Do you have the phone line going through a surge protector? Tried another phone cord? Not sure what else to try, that is deffinatly a very unusual problem.
