Modem failed to train - what does that mean?

I've been unable to successfully send a fax using WinFax, Mightyfax, and the built-in fax software for XPPro. What I keep seeing is a 'modem failed to train' error message - but my modem can't be busted because I'm still able to get online with no problems. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that didn't work. I guess I could open up my box and try it n a different PCI slot but I don't know if that would do anything....

Anyone know what that error message means? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks...!

Not all modems are capable of handling faxes......
You can also check that the "fax" driver is installed.....

Can I assume that you have a 56k modem and not a dsl one?
