Modem Enigma

For some reasons I cannot connect thru my modem. Everytime I connect it to the phone jack on the wall, my phones sharing the same line goes dead or busy. However, I did check my modem via the control panel and it seems to be working fine. My phone jack is fine and there's no problem with it using the regular phone or fax. But again, once the modem is connected directly or indirectly (via splitter), none will work including my phone. I have tried reinstalling the modem, but to no avail. Please help! I have never ahd this kind of a dilemna before. Thanks

If you're referring to a phone being on the other end of a modem going dead/silent, you've got the phone cords in the wrong jacks... reverse the connections going into the computer (i.e. just switch the location of the RJ-45 connectors) and it should all work...
