i'm thinking about modding my ps2. i am thinking about getting the magic v mod chip for the v5 system. i dont know where to buy it from (as far as reliable online resellers). have any of you modded, and if so, where from and what type of chip did you use?

I thought he was talking about a video game system...

google brings lots of hits... i was going to do the same.. but i don't feel like soldiering 23 wires and risking burn out 😉 and the mod chip i want is $70... i remember when i did this for our ps1... $10 or something, 4 simple wires.

You should put something about just making "backups" of games, that should keep this thread unlocked for a few extra minutes

great prices and excellent service.
i would advise against doing it yourself...unless you are very comfortable with a gun.

Gun? More like pencil. I have easy access to soldering stations that cost thousands of dollars at work and its still a challenge.

You can always buy pre-chipped ps2 systems.

Yeah. After one botched mod attempt I tried to fix I agree. If you don't have the skill leave it to a pro. I have done one mod successfully but that was one I did from the start.
