i have a geforce 4 ti-4200, it can clock at 300/700 with outmods so i was thinking if there was a way to "make" it into a 4600 by flashing the bios, is this possible ebcause i see people turning 9500's into 9700's....and if this is possible HOW???????? i have the ray adams bios editor but i need NVflash.exe and that other EXE....any one know how to do this???

As far as I know, the only difference between a 4200, 4400 and a 4600 are the core/mem clock speeds. So if you have a 4200 running at 4600 speeds, it is in effect a 4600. Except windows will still say "4200" in the display properties, but I should think that isnt that big a deal. I mean if I had a card that performed as well as a gf4 ti4600, I wouldn't care if Windows detected it as an S3 Virge DX.

But if you want it to say 4600 in windows, then I can't really help.

Don't do this! Odds are your ti4200 and ti4600 have different pcbs and any slight difference between them, you would have ruined your card if you flashed it to a ti4600. If you are already getting 300/700 than its faster than a stock ti4600. Just let it overclock on windows startup, I don't think you will need this speed for dos. I don't think you need Ray Adam's bios editor either as you won't see a difference, it will just run at 300/700 all the time instead of just only in windows. I prefer to have my card clocked lower in dos or whenever not in windows, it helps to cool it down.

what model is your ti4200, because some of the models like the gainward golden sample and the albatron turbo version has the ti4600 8 layer pcb.

It may look like a 4600, but its a 4200 built on the 4600 style pcb to give it more power. There is probably still some differences between this and a 4600.
