Modding ideas for vga cooling

Right now I have an extra 80mm fan leaning against the top retention bracket of my VGA Silencer rev3 on a 9800. I find with that extra fan on top I lower my vga temps 6-10F.

So what i'm trying to do is to figure out a way to mount my 80mm in a more permanent way.

1. Was thinking of somehow making something similar to this, and have it blow across the side of the Radeon. Any idea on some kinda home-made version?

2. Somehow mount the 80mm directly on top of the Radeon, while still using the VGA Silencer on the bottom

I believe that the first method would be more effective because with the extra fan on the side of the vidcard, it will cool also help cool the area between the VGA Silencer/Radeon, mainly the memory. However, I don't have any holes in the side of my case, and don't plan on cutting it. So with a fan that close to the side of the case i'm not sure how effective that'd be.

I just punched a hole in the the side of my case and have a 92mm stealth blowing on the the base of the VGA silencer, seems to do the trick as I can go up to 450 core

One of the brackets would work for what you want to do and the airflow over the area will help.

If you're going to create a bracket then you can make it point anyway you want! The side mounted fans like on the GIANT III's seem to work well so your choice is at least mirrored in commercial products available.

I have a fan in the side of my case drawing air in so have not had a need to use what you plan.

any idea on how to make the bracket? I wish i had a dremel to make a hole, but i'd only end up making a side vent, and cutting out the fan grills... not really worth it to pay like 50$. Plus i'd have to take everything out of my case, and that's just a pain :)
