Howardforums has TOO many thread about this topic, if I search for my phone model I get like countless threads that aren't really what I'm looking for.

picked up an w810i off Craigslist, Unbranded it and am trying to install some flash menus for it, there's a non brute force method tutorial but I couldn't get past the 3rd step due to a patch file not being able to run on my computer. So I loaded up XS++ and am brute force'ing it right now. Might take 3 more hours, might take 2 more days WEEEE!

anyone here mod their phone? Aside from the flash menus I'm looking for ideas of what to do next, the phone seems pretty cool but I'm not sure where to go from here. HF is like a million messages my eyes hurt from reading so much :)

If you debranded it, shouldnt you just be able to customize like mad? HoFo is definitely a PITA. There's a handful of people there who can't even speak coherent english, which I can understand why probably because most people with cool phones aren't in the US, but yeah.

I had an unlocked W810i, and I just remember copying files over to use as themes. That's all.

a handful? more like a million. :) I just can't find threads that are helpful, and if you ask a question they go "use the search feature you fucker!" but searching on there is a PITA. Yes I should be able to customize like mad, but I'm trying to figure out what to customize. I'm brute forcing my phone right now so I can get these flash themes on there (they look bad ass) the manual method wasn't working for me, I found 10 "how to" guides and all 10 of them told a different way to do it. I'm not a tech dummy, been on computers since TRS-80's, but I'm not figuring out much of this on my own. I guess it's a learning process like anything new, but it's hard to learn when I don't know a good source. A lot of what I'm reading sounds like opinions written by teenagers, since modding is underground I'm not going to find well written tutorials like on Linda.com haha. Maybe I'll just keep reading everything I come across until something sticks *shrug*

like I'm reading about the brute force to hack into the FS, I understand well how brute force works, and a lot of the people are suggesting if it doesn't crack your phone within an hour, stop and start it again and most of the time it will hack into it the 2nd attempt withing 20-30 minutes. What logic is that? Brute Force by nature of what it is can't be made any more efficient.

did you like your 810i? it's my first GSM phone and I think it's pretty sweet so far. The ear piece volume seems a bit low but the phone has some nice features. Searching how to (if you can) fix the ear piece volume on HF's left me more confused than when I started :)

man TOO many different tutorials with way different methods to accomplish the same shit. I figured out FAR, no brute force no waiting, easy to mod. topsony has some great threads. I'm tempted to make a site (not a forum) with a straight forward guide compiling all the best techniques I've found reading 20 different guides. Spent the better part of the weekend sorting out the crap and seeing what works. Only problem now, I think I've ran out of things to mod on this phone already. oh well :)
