modding atx power supply to use with p4 mobo

I have several excellent litron atx server ps units with no p4 2x2 cable attached
I saw a $3 cable at directon which you can plug into 12v 4 pin connector and provide a 12v 2x2 pin connector for a p4 mobo.
Does any one have any experience with these and are they safe to use in this way.
I did a google search and saw several of this type adaptor available for sale but have not seen any reliable document as to their safety or stability.
Any information on this subject will be very much appreciated

The entire point of the extra connector is to not overload both the ATX wires, and the ATX connector itself. Using a connector in that fashon should be fine as long as your PSU can handle the wattage.
