For my next build, I pretty sure I'm gonna go with some version of the x800. My options are the xl, the xt (goes for around $400 on ebay), or the pro.

I have heard that it's possible to mod the pro version to the xt. My question is, what does this involve, and what sort of performance gain do you get? Is it just a bios flash or what? I'd assume there'd be some OCing too. But if this a viable option, I'd lov to save money and get the pro :D

Thanks in advance

The VIVO Pros aren't that much less than the XTs. I'd spend the few extra bucks in exchange for knowing for sure that I've got a 16-pipe card.

thanks for the help. i was wondering how effective this mod actually is, i.e., is the performance gain worth the trouble of the mod. But after glancing over parts of that thread, and finding out about the vivo thing, I'm just gonna drop the idea and get the best deal I can find on an xt or xl
