Modding an Intellimouse Explorer 1.0

Hi. I was wondering if I could interest anyone here in modding an intellimouse explorer 1.0 to use the 3.0 or intellimouse optical sensor? Here is a picture of the mouse you would be modding:

I take it you like the feal of the older mouse but what the updated hardware?

Well its not as simple as simply swapping out the sensor in the mouse. You would have to swap out all of the interals of the mice. Chances are you would run into issue trying to put it all back to gether. For one the mounting holes probably won't line up. The may even be obstructions between the cuircut board and the internal structure of the mouse casing. Which means you would have to do some cutting on the case and possibly the board to get it all to fit right. It can be done but you would be better of getting use to a new mouse. That is if the internals of the newer mouse are not larger then the old mouse body.
