Modding a wireless card's antenna...

I've got a Belkin Wireless Notebook PCMCIA card (802.11b/WiFi) that can be configured in Linux as an access point. Using my free PCI adapter, I'd like to do this someday but the antenna is integrated and REALLY crappy (It wouldn't make a good access point; look at the link below!). It took me a while to find this information. All I could find other than this were broken links to an SMC card that they say was identical. Considering all the other SERIOUS antenna mods I've seen, THIS ONE looks a little "sloppy." What, am I just supposed to string copper wire off the hole I drill or what? 😀

What type of antenna and connector should I get for a decent access point? I'm not doing any extreme wardriving like most of the antenna modders! 🙂 Most of the other mods use coaxial wires/connectors and solder onto two connection points, so am I right to suspect that there's something a little amature here which probably doesn't do any good?

Thnx!
