modding a 9600 pro?

looking at some of the pictures of a 9600 pro, some look like they use a 9700 PCB (white reference lines on the top right hand corner of card) - indicating where the power connector should be for a 9700.

i know the 9600 pro is not moddable, but looking @ the PCB and the L shaped ram formation it's hard to believe it cannot be modded. no ways to unlock the 4 extra pixel pipelines? if this can actually be done the card would be a much more formiddable package.

Well for starters the card has no extra pixel pipelines, it is a totaly different core. Also since there is only a single 128 bit memory interface you cannot get the bandwith of a 9700(or even close).

Yep. It's imposible as those 4 extra pixels don't exist in that card.

well damn.

I always knew the 9600 was a lousy replacement for the 9500. But I didn't know they only have 4 pipelines unlike the 9500 which had 8. Darn 9600, curse you ATI.

How can you say that? The 9600 is a smaller die and runs most benchmarks only 10% less the 9500 with half the bandwidth.
