Modded XBox takes me to set up screen?

I don't play my Xbox too much, but it has been working in the past few days--however today when I turned it in, instead of taking me to my main screen, it takes me to the xbox set up screen with options to adjust the memory, music, Xbox live, and settings--as if it's not booting from the hard drive anymore. However if I go into the memory settings I can see all my saved games on there so the HD is properly connected..

Any suggestions? Is there some sort of boot disk I can put in to restore everything?

Well that depends if it was softmodded or if it has a modchip.
Do you have any idea how it was modded?

If the hard drive was a problem, I don't think you'd get the MS dashboard, which uses files from the drive. It sounds more like the mod (hard or soft) was turned off.

Softmodded, someone else had done it for me but I'll open it up tonight and see if I can figure out what it is.

If it was soft modded, then theres no need to open it up, since theres no chance of it being a loose modchip wire keeping it from booting to a modded bios.

Are you sure the mod isnt working and you didnt just lose the Evox dashboard? (or whatever dashboard you were using)

BoberFett is correct, your hard drive is ok or you wouldnt be booting at all and you'd get the Hard drive error screen.

My best guess so far would be , your xbox had the "hacked" dashboard installed on c and it was deleted or your ini file got corrupted and its not set to boot from the hacked dashboard anymore.

If its just your dashboard.
You can use a disc called Slayers Evox autoinstaller to re-install it, and it will also tell you if your softmod exploit is still intact.
Of course i cant tell you where to get the Slayer disc, but it can be found in the "usual places".

Worst case scenerio is you'd have to re-install the softmod, which is very easy and takes about 5-10 minutes total to do.
But ive never had a softmod uninstall itself.

But if it turns out you have to, PM me if you need instructions. ;)
