does a modded xbox play dual-layer burned discs ?

does a regular set-top DVD player play them for that matter ?

No sense in buying these expensive DL discs if I can't even play them on anything other than my PC.

Normal DVDs that you buy from the store with movies on them are typically dual layer, my xbox plays those fine.

Modeps is right. Most DVD movies you watch are DL. Ever watched a movie and about 1/2 through there is a slight pause (last maybe 1 to 2 seconds?) Well, thats the DVD player realigning to the second layer for playback. This process has been speed up by newer DVD players....but older ones its still noticable, especially mine. :p

I think he means burnable DL DVD-R's, in which case the answer is i don't know. It probably depends on which drive your Xbox has. If it has the Thompson drive then no, problably not (the Tompson drive sucks). The others might.

I dont see why they wouldn't
but if you have a modded xbox, why bother with media? use XBMC to play DVD images. 1TB+ server and growing of images for me, and I don't have to switch disks EVER.
