but I can NOT get my login to work there and I can NOT seem to get it retreived or a new account set up so I figured I'd try here.

The HD I had in the xbox died this morning and I'm trying to install a new one... in my HD in my modded 1.0 xbox (xecuter lite 2.x). However with the new HD in I'm getting an error 16 even booting from Slayers DVD. I can NOT get it to boot period. I still have original HD, but that I'm getting error 06 which is: Unable to lock HD.

Since I cant boot from DVD, I'm at a loss of what to do here... no boot no worky :(

16 is just a dashboard error. that means it doesnt know what to do, so your CD/DVD sucks. you should get new media and try to burn slayers or x-disk again.

hmm I have a questions as well (lets say that op's q was answered).

I have evox running and had to rename evo dash to xboxdash.xbe to start evo from hdd.

I changed original ms dash to msxboxdash.xbe and made same change in evox.ini to see that file but I am unable to boot into msdash.

I need to get into msdash to change time (it thinks its 8901 now :|) and change video modes.

sigh..

it should be the answer to his problem. all that means is it cant find a dashboard, so your CD/DVD is corrupt or not burned on compatible media. the older versions are extremely picky.

hey homerboy...the best idea i can think of for you is to put a computer DVD drive in the xbox. use the molex from a computer PSU, plug in the IDE cable from the xbox to your dvd drive (put it on slave) and leave the xbox dvd drive connected to its power cable. then you can read a huge variety of disks because the computer dvd players are way less picky.

In the slayers disc, there should be an option to lock the drive. I forget where, but the option is there, look in the submenus. If not try to get a copy of Firef-ckers X-disk and use that. Torrent should be available online relatively easy.

If you can't login, find out what subnet your xbox is on and IP address and adjust your box accordingly. You probably knew this already though. :)

Keep trying to solder it. Use flux. It would take a lot to permanently f up your MB trying to resolder the d0

I had the same problem, a small dash of electrical paint with a needle head to the D0 point will work fine. Or you can cleanse the pins on the bottom of the modchip.

Are you making sure you are setting the jumpers on the modchip properly to calibrate it? Just put it in calibration mode, and move it around while the xbox is on until you get a solid green, then screw that bastard in. You will be good to go.

Remember to set the jumpers back for normal operation. GL.

If the d0 isn't connecting than it should be like the modchip isn't there at all, meaning no error.

you need the modchip to install a new dashboard on an unlocked hard drive when it is completely erased.

ive seen people get 60-70 out of a broken xbox. also, im thinking about selling mine. it is a v1.5 with a samsung dvd drive (very rare drive - it reads any media including CD-R), x2.3blite, 160gb hard drive w/ 60ish games and 4 controllers. note: samsung drives are not that rare, but this certain one is. xbox-scene had a thread about it a while ago but i cant seem to find it.
