Modded the Xbox. Teh greatness!

How awesome are modded xboxes?

Got my two WRT54g routers connected wirelessly in WDS mode. Having the Xbox stream mp3s/movies to the big screen downstrairs is amazing! Not only that, playing old NES, SNES, Genesis, Atari games in their original greatness is amazing. I like copying my games to the HDD so the originals don't get scratched.

My setup: Xbox 1.6, Xecuter 2.6 chip, 250GB Maxtor.

BTW, besides Halo 2 and Burnout 3, what are the best Live games?

Modded Xbox + Live = bannage still I think?

Unless they have found a way to protect from that. I've been too scared to go on with my Xbox after the Halo2 scare of 2004.

I think you're good as long as you went on Live after you modded your xbox. Alot of people get banned when they go onto Live then mod their xbox. Anywho, Ghost Recon 2 is good and also Rainbow Six: Black Arrow.

Yes. I had a modded xbox a while ago... and then I sold it two weeks later for $450, I need $$ for something. It's so nice now that the apps have matured.

You only get banned if you get on XBox Live with a modded XBox AFTER you've gotten on Live with your old hard drive. Marriage theory. (purbeast0 is an expert on the subject, I know bits and pieces from having my box banned)

And it wasn't Halo 2 that got people banned - the ban/red flagging of HD/EEPROM marriages started mid-October.

Yea...so the originals don't get scratched I bought games (like Halo 1, Max Payne) from when the XBox almost first debuted, play all the time (Halo 1) with not a single scratch on my Halo 1 disc. People get scratches on their games b/c they're dumbasses, or their friends who they lend the games to are dumbasses. Period.

it is the best. i have not used any piece of electronics more than I use my xbox. i use it more than my computer! i was out last night, as well as monday, so i missed 24 and LOST. so i dl'ed 24 tuesday and watched it from my xbox. i have lost on my HD at home now and will watch it tonight when i get home . god i love this thing!

not to mention xbox live. xbox live is the most fun i have ever had on a console, especially halo 2. you asked about some games, but honestly the main 2 games i play are the 2 you mentioned. tiger woods 2k5 i fun on there as well, but i don't have that urge to play it anymore. street fighter anniversary collection comes out next month, and THAT will be my next purchase for the system so that i can play it on xbox live.

i've heard great things about ghost recon 2 and rainbox 6 black arrow. i might pick up r6 since it can be found for about $20 now a days (used). but honestly, i still play halo 2 often because i still am not bored with it, although I can't wait for some downloadable content (hopefully atleast 2 new maps!!)

Hey PB0,

Ghost Recon 2 is pretty good - it plays like GR1 but much better, kind of R6ish. R6:BA is just an expansion pack, in my mind it's only worth like $10-15, no more though. The new R6 sequel looks pretty sweet though.

Oh and I got a new EEPROM + 160GB Maxtor, banned within a day. (Same GT) I ended up just buying another XBox b/c well I don't mind having 2.

Unfortunately my geographical location forbids me from doing it (I'm in HK). But we have a few malls here that sell modded Xbox's, in fact my friend just bought one the other night! So just looking for any tips on what to ask for, etc.

whenever i switch over to live, i just turn off the modchip and reinstall the original hard drive... yeah kind of a hassle, but i like to play it safe.

Heh. A guy at work spent a clutch getting his XBox modded. Too bad he forgot to have the guy put the switch in so he could actually USE the thing online.

XBMC has a power off button in the menus so you don't have to manually push the off button, but it would be great to have an on-button... how hard is it to do ?

I am glad I had the mod done, XBMC is an amazing piece of software. The vids off my PC comes through my HT setup all in Dolby like it was meant to be too.

BTW, if anyone in the NY area needs an XBOX modded, the guy who did mine did an excellent job and even went the extra mile putting in LAN/HDD LEDs without me asking for it, along with the off-switch to use for XBL. It works great, even though I unsubbed from XBL soon thereafter (don't play it much). Just PM me and I'll give you his info. Great guy.

I haven't kept up to date with the banning of modded xbox on Live and I haven't even tried going on since they started banning in October. Is that still the majority opinion that the marrige theory is why most got or get banned? I never had live on my origional HDD since I didn't get it until months after I modded it. One of these days I will try to see if I can actually get on Live anymore.
